Innovative project ideas and other tech-based projects by students from leading Visayan schools were showcased at the one-day Wicked Dreams Action Civics Fair held at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu last October 28, 2018.
Over 70 student participants and 14 participating teams took part in fair, which is on its first run this year, showcasing their exceptional talents in developing innovative projects for the community using digital media and technology.
”We organized Wicked Dreams to give students from the Visayas the chance to highlight their tech projects and encouraging the spirit of collaboration and innovation along the way,” said Fleire Castro Third Media Team CEO and lead event organizer.
“Apart from showcasing their projects, the fair will see participants pitching for the chance to get funding and mentoring for their ventures. Three lucky projects will be awarded seed money and mentoring for implementation in their schools and communities.”
WINNERS OF THE FIRST EVER WICKED DREAMS: ACTION CIVICS FAIR
The first place for the fair’s pitching competition went to the Dalangpangan, a student group from Cebu Normal University (CNU). The second place was given to Kultourismo while the third place was awarded to Vernon Joseph Go.
Cebu Normal University’s Dalangpanan: Dalangpanan Restorative Justice
The project aims to raise awareness on the issue of juvenile delinquency and at the same time break the stigma that goes along with it. Amplifyin the voice of the youth is all part of this project’s objectives.

kulTOURismo aims to suffice and spread information on cultural diversity that may help in answering and correcting some misconceptions and prejudices in our society specifically in Lanao that will eventually promote cultural awareness.

The first place winner got a P25,000 cash prize, the second place P15,000 and the third place P5,000 seed money for project implementation.

The Best in Research Award was given to the Minor League Hackathon of the CCL CentrEx
The People’s Choice Award was also awarded to CNU’s Dalangpangan
The Best Action Award was presented to Glambition of MMIS
Teams that made it to the October 28 contest passed through several hurdles, including the holding of group discussions in participating schools last August 2018, pitching workshops in the said institutions, and preliminary elimination of entries last September 2018.
The pitching contest judges included Frederick Amores, Director of the Department of Information and Communication Technology; Dann Diez, CEO of SEED4Com; and Fleire Castro, CEO of Third Team Media.
Major sponsors are Mikva Challenge, PRWorks, Third Team Media, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Community partners include GDG Cebu, Cebu Innovation Network, and Cebu Animation Guild.
Venue partner is Robinson’s Galleria Cebu. Supporters include BloodLife.ph, Island Rendevoo, BASS, Qualfon, Uniform Solutions, and AtoX Business Solutions Inc.
