Two weeks ago, I read from Sun Star Daily a new place which opened last September 8 in Capitol which is called the Bucket Shrimps because you get to enjoy the delectable seafood by the bucket just like you see in movies! And that totally piqued my curiosity.

Just in time, it was an hour before lunch so I called in, made a reservation and ordered in advance (yes, you can hehehe) which I find so efficient to avoid the long queue.

Bucket Shrimps is just a stone throw away from STK Ta Bai and Yayoy’s Restobar. The first thing you’ll notice are the white drapes which serve as shade from the scorching heat especially at high noon. (No need to worry about the ventilation though since there are 6 fans that will provide you some cool comfort as you dine.)

When I got there around twenty minutes after 12 noon, it was close to a full house. It is an al fresco type of dining with 16 tables and a bar that could accommodate more or less fifty hungry customers.

Each table is covered with Manila paper with a white sheet for your food once it’s served and a tissue roll comes in handy, too.

What’s on the menu:

– the boiled shrimp, soft-shell Thai shrimp, crazy pusit, chicken wings,  liempo loco

One bucket of shrimps weighs one pound, either you go Cajun or gata flavor.

Drinks (owner’s concoction)
– Calma
– Caleche

Cool 80′s music is playing in the background while I had a fill on their Boiled Cajun Shrimp  and Chicken Wings.

Boiled Cajun Shrimps (250 php/pound)

Chicken Wings (150 php/6 pieces)

I love their shrimps which has a certain kick to its flavor. The wings were well done and tender but they need to spice it up some more to make it a perfect chili dish.

Since they’re just a month old, I’ll forgive them on some areas that they need to improve on. Over-all, I love the whole “kinamot” experience in this new place here in Orchid Street!

Thanks to Bucket Shrimp crew: Phogie, Con-Con and Noel for your good service though the place was so packed. I still appreciated your help for providing me all the information that I need for this review. Again, thanks a lot!

So what about you guys?

Please care to share your Bucket Shrimp experience
