CANCER WARRIORS FOUNDATION INC – CEBU CHAPTER
The Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc – Cebu Chapter have been around since 2010 but the foundation have been established since year 2000 by a brave cancer survivor who was inspired to help after seeing the children needing more assistance here in the Philippines as far as treatment is concerned. “The Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc was born out of that vision and desire to allow kids to be kids despite being diagnosed with catastrophic disease such as childhood cancer,” shares Jennifer Ruby Baylon, Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc. (CWFI) Cebu program manager.
PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS
Since 2010, the Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc – Cebu Chapter have been helping more than a hundred kids with free medicines. They have the Balay Silungan where those children who live far from Cebu (especially in the Visayas area) and with no relatives in the city whom they can turn to during their treatment, these kids can stay in the Cancer Warrior shelter for free. The foundation also has the home school program to provide education for those kids who are undergoing treatment without the risk of getting infection from traveling to their schools and homes.
This is the third partnership with Cebu Parklane International Hotel, the first year dubbed as Be a Warrior, Save an Angel then on the second year, I Can because of a CAN and now this year, Star of LIFE – all these to promote awareness of childhood cancer and to help generate support with regards to the advocacy.
So this year, let us all “sprinkle some stardust, add some love, too.”
