Mynt which operates GCash, Philippines’ largest mobile wallet and ThreeSixty Pharmacy recently announced that the GCash QR-based mobile payment technology will now be available to some branches in Cebu which will enable the acceptance of payment from all local GCash users.
ThreeSixty Pharmacy is a Filipino owned chain of drugstores which offers retail of various medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and general merchandise in the Visayas. There are 80 branches in Cebu and 4 branches in Bohol. ThreeSixty Pharmacy is the latest partner of Mynt, operator of GCash, the electronic mobile wallet that can be used to pay for goods and services in the Philippines by using QR codes.
“We are happy to launch this partnership with ThreeSixty Pharmacy. This makes them one of the drug store merchant chains in the Visayas to offer the GCash QR payment technology. Their known presence and reach in the region will be a good opportunity for GCash users to utilize this payment option. As of today, 13 branches in Cebu can now accept GCash payments,” said Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of Mynt.
“At ThreeSixty Pharmacy, we are committed to serve our customer in the best possible way. Part of this is making sure that we improve the experience of our customers inside our stores. This partnership with GCash is a testament to this commitment since customers can now pay using their GCash via the Scan-to-Pay technology. They can simply scan the QR Code, type the amount, and pay via the GCash App,” said Bernadette Napenas, Chief Operating Officer of ThreeSixty Pharmacy.
Using the Scan to Pay feature of GCash is simple. A customer with an iPhone or an Android smartphone only needs to download or update to the latest version of the GCash App, register an account, and fund GCash wallet at any of over 15,000 GCash Partner Outlets nationwide. Once done, the customer just has to tap on Scan QR, point a phone’s camera at the partner’s QR code, and pay.
