Isuzu Philippines Corporation unveiled its first modernized jeepney prototype, Centro last February at Plaza Sugbo during the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board – Central Visayas’ roadshow in line with the PUJ modernization program.
“Centro is the first prototype which is designed according to the standards set by the national government,” shares Matt Aguilar, Isuzu Philippines Fleet Sales Supervisor.
Centro with a starting rate of Php1.6M is a twenty-seater unit equipped with a speed card, GPS System and a dash camera to ensure public safety. It is powered by a blue power diesel engine so it provides a cleaner emission which makes it an environment-friendly unit compared to existing PUJs.
“The unit is installed with air conditioner but operators has an option to have one or not,” added Aguilar. “We will also offer training services for users/drivers in terms of proper care of the unit and efficient driving. With proper care and usage, the unit will last for years guaranteed.”
There will be two more prototypes: Almazora and Sta. Rosa which will be ready this summer. “These prototypes will be equipped with different designs and features that will cater to specific needs,” said Oscar Umandap, Isuzu Product Planning.
Almazora and Sta. Rosa protoypes will have bigger pathway, accessible ramp and an improved special feature for persons with disabilities (PWDs). The said prototypes including the first one, Centro will be one of the highlights of this summer’s roadshow.
