Startup Weekend Cebu Youth Edition culminated last February 16 – 18, 2018 at The Grid Pad and Creative Campus, Talamban, Cebu City. The three-day ideation, mentorship, and presentation program is the 6th Startup Weekend in Cebu City and the first Youth Edition in the Philippines. The number of participants that attended were sixty (60) students aged 13 – 18 who worked with their teams to turn their ideas into a more concrete business concept and prototype during the 54-hour event.
DAY 1: MEET, PITCH & TEAM UP
DAY 2: LEARN & WORK
DAY 3: PRESENT & CHOOSE
Winning teams were awarded mentorship opportunities with Filipino Homes’ CEO, Anthony Leuterio, along with other prizes that hopes to connect the participants with each other again after the event as many teams are comprised of hard working students from different schools.
STARTUP WEEKEND CEBU YOUTH JUDGES
Winners were assessed by the esteemed judges invited to lend their time and expertise. Startup Weekend Cebu Youth Edition had the honor of having Hon. Eduardo R. Rama Jr, Mr. David Overton, and Mrs. Laurice Alaan Chiongbian at the judging table. All of whom are reputable figures in both the city and the budding tech startup scene in Cebu.
“It only makes sense that Cebu – a gold mine of talent, ideas, and entrepreneurs – participates in this movement. This Startup Weekend edition is special because this is exclusive to the youth, with the goal of inspiring interest in technology, design, and/or entrepreneurship”, says Justine Win Cañete, Lead Organizer of Startup Weekend Cebu Youth Edition.
